Key Scripture: Galatians 5:13
Christian families are called not only to receive blessings but also to bless others. Children can learn early that faith expresses itself through loving service.
Service may include visiting an older person, preparing food for someone in need, welcoming a new church member, caring for creation, writing an encouraging note, or participating in a ministry project.
Parents should involve children in age-appropriate ways. A young child can choose food for a donation. A teenager can help plan an outreach activity. Afterward, the family can discuss what they learned about compassion and God’s work.
Service should not be used to display superiority. Christians serve because every person has dignity and because Jesus served us first. Families should listen respectfully to the people they hope to help.
Serving together creates meaningful memories, develops gratitude, and protects the family from becoming self-centered.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, give our families servants’ hearts. Show us how to use our time, abilities, and resources to bless others. Amen.
