PARENTS AS SPIRITUAL GUIDES

Key Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:6″7

Adventist belief teaches that parents should raise their children to love and obey the Lord. Spiritual guidance occurs through both words and example.

Children notice whether adults pray sincerely, speak truthfully, treat others kindly, and practice what they teach. A parent’s apology after making a mistake can be a powerful lesson about grace.

Faith should be woven naturally into daily life. Parents can discuss God’s creation, pray about school concerns, connect Bible principles with decisions, and celebrate answered prayers. Questions should be welcomed rather than punished.

Parents cannot force a child to love God. They can provide instruction, loving discipline, a safe environment, and an authentic example while trusting the Holy Spirit to work.

The church also has a role. Congregations can support parents and provide children with caring mentors and opportunities to serve.

Prayer:
Father, give parents wisdom and patience. Help them guide their children through loving words, consistent example, and complete dependence on You. Amen.
