Gossip spreads private or damaging information without a loving and necessary purpose. Even a technically true statement can be used sinfully.
Before speaking, Christians can ask: Is it true? Is it mine to share? Will it help? Have I spoken directly to the person involved? Concerns about abuse or danger should be reported to appropriate authorities, not hidden under a rule of silence.

Lord, restrain harmful speech and make our words protective, truthful, and healing. Amen.
