GOD’S HEART AGAINST ABUSE

Key Scripture: Psalm 11:5

Physical, sexual, emotional, and spiritual abuse violate the dignity of people created in God’s image. Violence and coercive control have no rightful place in Christian marriage or family life.

No one should be told that enduring danger proves faithfulness. Safety is a priority. A person facing immediate danger should contact emergency services or a trusted local support resource and move to a safe place when possible.

Church leaders must listen seriously, avoid blaming the person harmed, follow reporting requirements, and involve qualified professionals. Prayer and forgiveness must never be used to hide abuse or prevent accountability.

An abusive person needs genuine repentance, professional intervention, accountability, and demonstrated change. Words alone are not sufficient.

The church should be a refuge where vulnerable people receive protection, dignity, and compassionate support. God sees suffering and calls His people to defend those who are harmed.

Prayer:
God of justice, protect those experiencing abuse. Give them courage, safe support, healing, and freedom. Make our churches faithful places of refuge. Amen.
