Key Scripture: 1 Timothy 5:4
Honoring parents continues as they grow older. Adult children may need to help with transportation, medical care, finances, housing decisions, companionship, or daily activities.
Care should protect the older person’s dignity and involve them in decisions whenever possible. Aging does not erase individuality, preferences, or the need for respect.
Family members should communicate honestly about responsibilities. One caregiver should not be expected to carry every burden alone. Church members and community services may provide valuable support.
Caregiving can be emotionally and physically demanding. Rest, respite care, prayer, and counseling can help prevent exhaustion. Seeking professional care when needs become complex is not abandonment.
Families may also need to repair old wounds. Grace and healthy boundaries can exist together. God gives wisdom for honoring parents without ignoring safety.
Prayer:
Compassionate Father, bless aging adults and those who care for them. Give families patience, unity, resources, and wisdom. Amen.
