THE FAMILY AND THE HOPE OF RESURRECTION

Key Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:13″18

Death brings real sorrow to families, but Christians do not grieve without hope. Seventh-day Adventists believe that those who die in Christ rest until His return and the resurrection.

This teaching directs attention away from fear and toward Jesus’ victory over death. At the Second Coming, the faithful dead will rise, and God’s people will be gathered to Christ.

Families can comfort one another by remembering the life of the person who died, allowing honest grief, and holding firmly to biblical promises. Children need simple and truthful explanations suited to their age.

Hope does not eliminate tears. It gives tears a future. Separation will not last forever for those who belong to Christ.

Church communities should continue supporting grieving families through prayer, presence, meals, conversation, and remembrance.

Prayer:
God of life, comfort grieving families. Fix their hope on Christ’s return, the resurrection, and the joyful reunion You have promised. Amen.
