EQUAL DIGNITY AND MUTUAL SERVICE

Key Scripture: Ephesians 5:21

Husband and wife are both created in God’s image and possess equal dignity before Him. Christian marriage should never be a contest for control.

The New Testament calls believers to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. In marriage, this spirit is expressed through humility, consultation, sacrifice, and shared responsibility.

Couples may divide tasks according to abilities, circumstances, and agreement. What matters is that both contributions are valued and neither spouse is treated as inferior. Decisions affecting the family should involve honest discussion and respect.

Jesus used His authority to serve. Christian leadership must therefore resemble His character, never domination, intimidation, or violence. Love seeks the other person’s good.

When spouses serve each other freely, the home becomes more peaceful. Children also learn that strength is demonstrated through responsibility and kindness.

Prayer:
Lord, teach husbands and wives to honor each other’s equal dignity. Fill their marriage with humility, cooperation, and mutual service. Amen.
