Key Scripture: Psalm 78:4
Grandparents can make a lasting spiritual contribution to their families. Their stories, prayers, experience, and steady presence connect younger generations with God’s faithfulness.
They can share Bible stories, describe answered prayers, teach practical skills, attend important events, and offer encouragement. Even when distance separates the family, phone calls, letters, and video conversations can nurture connection.
Grandparents should respect the parents’ primary role and avoid undermining household decisions. Their influence is strongest when offered with humility and cooperation.
Some grandparents are raising grandchildren or providing significant care. They may need practical, financial, emotional, and church support.
Older adults without biological grandchildren can also become spiritual mentors within the church. Intergenerational relationships bless both the young and the old.
Prayer:
Faithful God, bless grandparents and older mentors. Use their wisdom, prayers, stories, and love to strengthen the next generation. Amen.
