PROTECTING INTIMACY IN MARRIAGE

Key Scripture: Hebrews 13:4

The Bible presents marital intimacy as a sacred gift within the covenant of marriage. It should express love, trust, exclusivity, tenderness, and mutual respect.

Emotional intimacy grows when spouses listen, share honestly, keep confidence, and offer affection. Physical intimacy should never involve pressure, fear, manipulation, or disregard for a spouse’s well-being.

Faithfulness includes guarding the heart. Secret romantic relationships, pornography, and emotionally inappropriate attachments can damage trust. Couples should establish wise boundaries and seek help quickly when temptation or betrayal threatens the marriage.

Health concerns, trauma, stress, aging, and other circumstances may affect intimacy. Compassionate communication and qualified professional care can help couples navigate these changes.

God’s grace is available to heal wounded hearts and restore integrity. Rebuilding after serious betrayal requires truth, repentance, safety, patience, and often skilled counseling.

Prayer:
Holy God, protect intimacy within marriage. Help couples practice faithfulness, tenderness, honesty, and mutual respect. Amen.
