Key Scripture: 1 John 5:21
Idolatry is not limited to bowing before an ancient statue. A good thing becomes an idol when it receives the devotion, dependence, or identity that belongs to God.
Careers, possessions, entertainment, influential people, and even religious institutions can become idols. The test is revealing: What controls our decisions? What do we fear losing most? Where do we seek ultimate security? Christ calls us to surrender every false center.
Prayer:
Lord, reveal hidden idols in our lives and turn our deepest affection back to You. Amen.
