Key Scripture: Exodus 20:3
The first commandment calls for exclusive loyalty to the true God. He delivered Israel from slavery before asking for obedience, showing that relationship and redemption come first.
Modern rival gods may include money, status, pleasure, power, politics, relationships, or self. Anything that receives our highest trust and devotion can take God’s place. Worship belongs to the Creator and Redeemer alone.
Prayer:
Only true God, remove every rival from our hearts and receive our complete trust, worship, and loyalty. Amen.
