The second commandment protects people from reducing the infinite God to something created. No image, object, or human idea can contain His glory.
Idolatry distorts worship because people eventually resemble the gods they serve. Scripture directs us to know God through His Word and most clearly through Jesus Christ. True worship submits imagination, culture, and tradition to biblical revelation.

Majestic God, keep our worship pure and help us know You as You have revealed Yourself. Amen.
