God’s name represents His character, authority, and reputation. The third commandment calls believers to speak of Him with reverence and truth.
Misusing His name includes careless profanity, false oaths, manipulative religious claims, and hypocritical conduct by those who identify as His people. Saying “God told me” to control others is a serious misuse of divine authority. Our words and lives should honor the name we carry.
Prayer:
Holy God, guard our speech and conduct so that Your name is honored through us. Amen.
