Key Scripture: Proverbs 4:23
Love does not mean allowing every behavior. Healthy boundaries protect dignity, responsibility, safety, and peace within family relationships.
A boundary clearly communicates what a person will or will not accept. It may concern privacy, money, communication, time, physical safety, or treatment by relatives. Boundaries should be expressed calmly and respectfully rather than as threats.
Married couples need unity when handling extended-family expectations. Honoring parents does not require allowing relatives to control the marriage. Husband and wife should make important decisions together and protect their household’s well-being.
Children also need age-appropriate boundaries. They should learn respect for other people’s bodies, belongings, time, and personal space.
When manipulation, addiction, or abuse is present, stronger boundaries and professional guidance may be needed. Forgiveness does not eliminate the need for protection.
Prayer:
God of peace, give families wisdom to establish healthy boundaries. Help us combine compassion with truth, courage, and respect. Amen.
